Note from NAHRI: Standing up to racial injustice

Wednesday, July 1, 2020

The NAHRI team is outraged by the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the countless Black people who lost their lives due to senseless acts of violence. These injustices serve as a reminder that we must unite against systemic racism.

We support the efforts for equality and sustainable transformation. And we stand with the American Public Health Association’s unequivocal statement that racism is a public health issue. To address this issue, we believe change is needed in all industries, including our own corner of healthcare.

NAHRI is committed to addressing racism and finding ways to ensure that underrepresented groups receive equal opportunities, both within our association and the industry at large.

We are committed to the process and to being transparent and rigorous as we move forward. As NAHRI determines its next steps, we welcome your input regarding these issues, and your thoughts on ways we can help.

As healthcare professionals, we are in a unique position to address this public health crisis. Let’s work together to identify the ways revenue integrity professionals can make strides toward equal opportunity for all.

If you are inclined, please reach out to us at nahri@hcpro.com and share with us your suggestions, requests, and personal stories related to this issue. We are not only making it our mission, but recognize it is our responsibility to make NAHRI a place of diversity and inclusion and use our platform to acknowledge the importance of Black voices.
