Revenue integrity professionals came together for two days of empowering learning and networking at the 2025 Revenue Integrity Symposium (RIS), held September 24-25 in Westminster, Colorado. 2025 RIS helped advance attendees commitment to excellence and continuous learning through three tracks, including one dedicated to denials management and prevention tactics across the revenue cycle offered in partnership with NAHRI’s sister association the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists (ACDIS).

Attendees began day one with breakfast and networking in the exhibit hall. Then they headed to the general session room where, after opening remarks which included NAHRI director Nicole Votta announcing that 2026 RIS will be held September 24-25, 2026, in Savannah, Georgia, keynote speaker Amelia Rose Earhart shared her incredible story of resilience facing unexpected turbulence preparing for her around the world flight and how she overcame setbacks by adjusting her path and her mindset. Attendees then chose from three tracks of breakout sessions, including expert tips on chargemaster management, reducing denials for office visits and ancillary services, and using metrics to drive revenue integrity success. After lunch, attendees filled out their first day of education by choosing from sessions on topics such as fostering connections between revenue integrity and compliance, ensuring appropriate status and billing of elective procedures, outpatient infusion billing and coding, and medical necessity denials. To cap off the day, attendees gathered in the exhibit hall and connected with friends new and old over refreshments and hors d’oeuvres at our networking reception.

Day two opened with a general session covering some of the major proposals in the 2026 Outpatient Prospective Payment System and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rules, along with tips on how to keep up with CMS’ frequent billing, coding, and coverage changes presented by Kimberly A. Hoy, JD, CPC, director of Medicare and compliance and lead regulatory specialist and lead instructor for HCPro’s Medicare Boot Camp®—Hospital Version and Medicare Boot Camp—Utilization Review Version. Day two breakout sessions covered a range of topics, including emergency department coding and revenue capture, analyzing and using KPIs, best practices for internal audits, pricing strategies, tips for a successful denials management program, and more. After the event concluded, attendees returned to their organizations energized and equipped with new knowledge, connections, and perspectives that will help them make a positive difference now and in the months to come.
