Malm: Charge capture continues to be one of the single most concerning tasks facing all facilities. As we move from charge to cost, the inability to capture charges completely will make the data required for the move to cost more challenging.

Most hospitals are noncompliant with CMS’ Hospital Price Transparency final rule, according to a study published June 14 in JAMA. Out of a random sample of 100 hospitals, 83 were noncompliant with at least one significant requirement.
Q: What’s the biggest challenge in revenue integrity right now?
Goodman: One of the biggest challenges at the moment is simply keeping revenue integrity at the forefront while so many entities are still recovering from the public health emergency and trying to do more with less.
