2023 RIS brings together professionals for engaging educational sessions, valuable networking
Revenue integrity professionals traveled from across the nation to Charlotte, North Carolina, to attend the 2023 Revenue Integrity Symposium (RIS), held September 18-19.
This year’s conference commenced with the general session “Getting Your Voice Heard.” Delivered by keynote speaker Larry O’Brien, MA, this session provided attendees with practical leadership approaches and effective communication strategies.
From there, attendees had the opportunity to enter breakout sessions held throughout the day. One memorable session, led by Marc Hartstein, John D. Settlemyer, MBA, MHA, CPC, CHRI, and Jugna Shah, MPH, CHRI, focused on changes in the 2024 Outpatient Prospective Payment System and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rules, as well as the 2024 Inpatient Prospective Payment System final rule. Other Day 1 sessions explored topics such as denials management, data analytics, and patient status.
Day 2 kicked off with breakout sessions on healthcare revenue protection from Jonathan G. Wiik, MSHA, MBA, CHFP, and tertiary care center transfers from Kristin A. McKee, RN, and Anuja Mohla, DO, MBA, CHCQM-PHYADV. Throughout the remainder of the day, attendees sat in on sessions that focused on charge capture, commercial payer audits, telehealth, and additional meaningful topics.
Attendees participated in many networking opportunities throughout the event, which allowed them to see some familiar faces and make valuable new connections.
Information on RIS 2024, including the location, dates, and call for speakers, will be released in the upcoming weeks.
