HHS releases PHE transition roadmap
HHS released a policy roadmap for providers ahead of the public health emergency (PHE) conclusion, which is currently scheduled for May 11. The roadmap details policies that will simultaneously end with the PHE, as well as flexibilities that have been extended for various time periods.
CMS previously released 16 provider-specific fact sheets on the timelines for PHE waivers and flexibilities. These undated fact sheets have all been revised as of February 1 and are located on the Coronavirus Waivers & Flexibilities webpage.
CMS released an additional fact sheet on February 27 that covers the following:
- COVID-19 vaccines, testing, and treatments
- Telehealth services
- Healthcare access
- Acute Hospital Care at Home initiative
As the expected date of the PHE conclusion inches closer, revenue integrity professionals must ensure their organization is in compliance throughout the transition. Review the transition roadmap and other fact sheets to determine the timeline of flexibility expirations. Monitor for additional guidance on PHE waivers and any changes to the individual policies.
