CMS grants transitional pass-through payment status for HCPCS code C1827

CMS recently granted transitional pass-through payment status for Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code C1827 (generator, neurostimulator [implantable], non-rechargeable, with implantable stimulation lead and external paired stimulation controller), when used in combination with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT^©) code 64568, for all dates of service starting January 1, 2023.

CMS will reopen these C1827 claims and reprocess them if needed. The agency noted that organizations do not need to take any action.
