Learn how to access and understand data in the 835 remittances
Editor’s note: Marie A. Stinebuck, MBA, MSN, RN, ACM, will present “Denials Prevention and the Value of 835 Data” on Day 2 of the Revenue Integrity Symposium, which takes place September 19-20 at the Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak. Stinebuck has been a nurse for 25 years with 13 years in case management and more than a decade in hospital case management leadership. Her roles have included leadership of teams in case management, utilization review, denials management, clinical documentation integrity, and medical record integrity.
NAHRI: What’s the biggest challenge in revenue integrity right now? How does your session help tackle this?
Stinebuck: The payers make it difficult, if not impossible, to decipher the data on the 835 regarding payment to the provider. This session will help you conduct a root cause analysis and understand the codes payers use that result in an increase of captured revenue.
NAHRI: What piece of advice do you like to give people about revenue integrity?
Stinebuck: The revenue cycle is a holistic approach that begins at patient admission and goes through payment and denials prevention. Working alongside your clinical team will prevent back-end denials and improve clean claims with timely payments.
NAHRI: What are you most excited about for this year’s conference?
Stinebuck: Following two years of missed opportunities to connect with our colleagues, I am looking forward to this conference to share our areas of expertise and further evolve the cyclical process of the revenue cycle.
