Thanking our NAHRI Advisory Board members

This month we’re excited to welcome Anuja Mohla, DO, MBA, FACP, ACPA-C, CHCQM-PHYADV, system medical director, utilization management, at ChristianaCare in Newark, Delaware, to the NAHRI Advisory Board. Mohla is a physician executive with deep revenue integrity, utilization management, denials management, observation services, patient status, and regulatory compliance expertise across a large, complex health system. She is experienced in aligning clinical operations, revenue cycle, payer requirements, care management, HIM, CDI, compliance, and data analytics to improve reimbursement outcomes, reduce revenue leakage, strengthen documentation, and support appropriate billing and resource utilization. She has a record of demonstrated success leading system-level initiatives in prior authorization, elective procedure status and billing compliance, medical necessity reviews, denials and appeals, observation metrics, length-of-stay management, audit response, and payer collaboration. Mohla is also a nationally recognized physician advisor, speaker, committee chair, board leader, and certification exam contributor with a strong track record of building multidisciplinary programs that connect clinical decision-making with revenue integrity, compliance, and operational performance.

As a board member, Mohla plans to bring a physician executive perspective to revenue integrity strategy, the gap between clinical and non-clinical teams working on different aspects of revenue integrity.

One issue Mohla is particularly interested in addressing is the increasing volume of hospital-based care that is not clinically acute or medically necessary for inpatient admission, including outpatient-in-a-bed scenarios, custodial or social-stay days, and non-clinical discharge delays.

At the end of the September, several board members wrapped up their terms. Each of our departing board members has made incredible contributions to NAHRI and the larger revenue integrity community. The profession as a whole would not be what it is today without their dedication, expertise, and their generosity in lending their time and knowledge to lay the foundations of modern revenue integrity. I look forward to continuing to work with them and know they will all continue to make meaningful contributions to our industry.
