Note from the editor: Your one-stop revenue integrity resource
What’s the biggest challenge you face in your job?
That’s one of the questions I’ve been asking NAHRI members. Over the past several months, we’ve been running member focus groups. These meetings serve as mini think tanks, providing members with the opportunity to connect with each other and brainstorm solutions to common problems. They also help me, and the rest of the NAHRI team, stay in touch with what matters to our members. Our mission is to provide you with the resources and information revenue integrity professionals need to not only do their jobs but to excel at them. Revenue integrity is a diverse discipline and no two revenue integrity programs are exactly alike. But, like our members, we’re up for the challenge and have an array of news, tools, and benefits that you can put to work right now.
Looking for resources to keep up with the latest news on Medicare reimbursement, OIG audits, and more? Every week, we select the most important revenue integrity news to feature in Revenue Integrity Insider and on nahri.org. Right now, the buzz is all about CMS’ 2020 Inpatient Prospective Payment System. Look for more extensive coverage and analysis from NAHRI as experts decode the nuances of CMS’ proposed changes.
Maybe you’re looking for benchmarks, key performance indicators, or sample forms you can easily adapt to your organization. Check out NAHRI’s sample policies and procedures in the Resources section of nahri.org. Is there a resource you’d like to suggest or have you created a form or tool that’s elevated your revenue integrity program? Contact Associate Editor Heidi Samuelson at hsamuelson@hcpro.com with your suggestions.
For experts’ quick takes on revenue integrity topics, sign up for our quarterly conference calls. Each call is about an hour in length and features NAHRI member updates on upcoming events and ongoing features as well as a selection of revenue integrity experts sharing their insights. You can browse archived calls and sign up for our 2019 calls. The next call is Tuesday, July 30 at 1 p.m. Eastern—you don’t want to miss it! Click here to listen to the April call. Do you have insight or expertise to share? Maybe you’ve worked on a new charge capture reconciliation program that’s drastically reduced missed charges or finally fixed a recurring denial. We’d love to have you join us on a quarterly conference call! Contact Associate Editor Heidi Samuelson at hsamuelson@hcpro.com to learn more about presenting on a call. Listening to a quarterly conference call qualify for one Certification in Healthcare Revenue Integrity (CHRI) CEU credit upon the completion of the accompanying survey, and two CEU credits are awarded for presenting on a quarterly call and completion of the accompanying survey.
Do you need a deep dive into a thorny revenue integrity issue with expert tips and analysis? Look no further than the quarterly NAHRI Journal. Each issue drills down into specific topics and challenges to get you the detailed information you need. Browse our current issue and past issues for tips on denials management, billing, payer audits, chargemaster maintenance, and revenue integrity program management. Is there a topic you’d like to see NAHRI dig into or do you have insight to share? Contact me, Nicole Votta at nvotta@hcpro.com, to suggest topics for future articles. Reading the Journal qualifies for one CHRI CEU credit upon the completion of the corresponding exam. You can also earn one CHRI CEU by contributing an approved article.
